The group originally debuted as MUSTB (머스트비) on January 21, 2019, under MUSTM Entertainment. The original lineup consisted of five members: Taegeon, Wooyeon, Doha, Soohyun, and Sihoo. Early in their career, the group faced a tragic event on April 21, 2019, when they were involved in a car accident that resulted in the departure of members Hawoon and Sangwoo. Despite the setback, MUSTB continued to release music and connect with fans.
On November 7, 2023, MUSTM Entertainment announced the termination of the members’ exclusive contracts. Shortly after, the group underwent a rebranding and officially changed their name to BE:MAX on July 6, 2024. With a renewed identity and direction, BE:MAX re-debuted on July 30, 2024, with the single “Down Down,” signaling a fresh start and a new era for the group.
